Pricing
The Handyman Austin is a free directory with one paid step: the introduction that connects a customer and a handyman so they can talk and agree on a job.
-
Free
Creating an account, listing as a handyman (Handyman listing (free)), and searching for a handyman in Austin all cost nothing. No card is required to join.
-
The paid introduction
When a handyman chooses to unlock a customer's contact details for a specific job, the introduction costs $4.99 per introduction (paid by the handyman). The customer is never charged. Every price is shown before anyone pays, and card details are handled entirely by Stripe — they never touch our servers.
-
What we never do
We do not charge for signing up or searching, we never post invented handymen or reviews, and we are not a party to the agreement between a customer and a handyman.
Fee & Pricing
- $4.99 connection fee. A single, one-time fee.
- Charged to the handyman only. The customer is free, always — the customer is never charged, for anything.
- Charged at the contact reveal. The fee is taken only when a handyman clicks "Unlock" and receives a customer's contact details for one job — never for signing up, searching, browsing, or posting.
- Payee: GCExperts LLC. The charge is made by GCExperts LLC, processed by Stripe. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never touch our servers.
- Non-refundable except a proven no-show or a delivery failure. Once the contact is revealed the introduction is delivered. The fee is refunded only under the two limited exceptions below, each decided by a person.
No background checks. We do not perform background checks, and we do not verify any handyman's license, insurance, identity, or suitability. A handyman attests that they hold the licenses and insurance the law requires, but an attestation is not verification. Customers must independently check a handyman's license, insurance, and suitability before hiring — especially for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, which Texas licenses.
The model
Our pricing is two separate claims about two different sides. We state them separately and precisely, and we do not blur them together:
- Customers pay nothing. A customer never pays anything on The Handyman Austin — nothing to sign up, search, post a job, receive an introduction, or be put in touch with a handyman. The customer side is $0, always, for everything.
- Handymen pay $4.99 per connection at the reveal. A handyman registers, lists, browses, and searches for free, and pays a single $4.99 introduction fee only when he chooses to unlock (reveal) a customer's contact details for one specific job. The price is shown before he pays.
There is no each-side split and no per-job charge. Because the fee gates the contact reveal, nothing is charged until a handyman actively chooses to unlock a job, and the price is shown before he pays.
Payments run in test mode for now: no real card is charged until the operator switches to live, and even then this page states the price before any payment.
Refunds
Because the introduction is the thing we charge for, a delivered introduction is not refundable as a matter of course, and we never auto-refund on silence. There are two limited, person-reviewed exceptions:
- Proven no-show. The customer agreed a date and time and then did not appear or respond to reasonable attempts. Ask support within 30 days of the reveal with your transaction id, the agreed date and time, at least two documented attempts on different days, and a short statement. Limited to about one request per handyman per 30 days, and refused if the job was in fact confirmed done.
- Delivery failure. The contact you receive at the reveal is invalid or not in service. Tell us within 7 days of the reveal and we will reverse and refund the fee.
These are the binding rules; the full procedure — including how a no-show is defined, the request window, and the 30-day cap — is in the Terms of Service, section 6. See also the Ratings & Reviews Policy.
The customer is never charged. A handyman pays the $4.99 introduction fee only when he chooses to unlock a specific job, and the price is shown before he pays.
